Kathy joined the Region of Durham in June 2011 as the Director Economic Development and Tourism. Since this time Kathy has implemented the Foreign Direct Investment Strategy which includes China, Germany, Brazil and the USA as key markets for investment and trade opportunities.
Prior to joining Durham Region, Kathy worked for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent from 2009 to 2011 as Director of Economic Development and Tourism.
From 2000 to 2009, Kathy was Director of Business Development with the City of Kitchener where she managed the Business Development team; Waterloo Region Small Business Centre; and the Kitchener Market. During this time she developed a business visitation program that was recognized by the Leontif Center in St. Petersburg, Russia (in partnership with the University of Waterloo) who has since implemented the program in their community.
Kathy is currently the Chair of the Board for the Spark Centre in Durham Region and is also an Advisor to the Board of Directors for the Business Accelerator Centre Durham (BACD). She is also a Past- President of the Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) where she actively served 8 years as a board member. Kathy
Kathy has earned a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership from York University, a Certificate in Economic Development from the University of Waterloo and a diploma in Business Administration from Niagara College.
Kathy has decided to become a contributing Partner with Community Plus Durham because she believes a thriving economic Durham is worth supporting.
